Documents
- A valid driving licence; an international driving permit alongside your national licence is recommended.
- Passport or ID.
- Ask in advance about the refundable deposit and how it is paid.
Key road rules
- In Bosnia and Herzegovina dipped headlights must be on while driving, day and night.
- In the winter season winter equipment is mandatory; make sure the car has it.
- Respect speed limits — fines are recorded and may be charged to you.
Parking in Sarajevo
The city centre is divided into paid parking zones. Read the signs and use public car parks and garages when needed.
Leaving Bosnia
If you plan to visit Croatia, Montenegro or Serbia, tell the rental company in advance — it needs permission and the right insurance documents.
Before pick-up
Photograph the car from every side and check the fuel level and emergency numbers.
