A simple seasonal guide for a home garden in Sarajevo, from spring clean-up to protecting plants before the snow.
AL SHAMSI Real Estate 2 days agoA tidy garden adds value to a home and makes it nicer to live in and to rent. With Sarajevo's four distinct seasons, each one has its own job.
Spring
- Clear winter debris, leaves and broken branches.
- First mow when the grass starts growing.
- Prune shrubs and feed the soil.
- Check the irrigation system if you have one.
Summer
- Mow regularly, but not too short in the heat.
- Water early in the morning or in the evening.
- Pull weeds before they spread.
Autumn
- Rake fallen leaves, especially from the lawn and gutters.
- Last mow before the cold.
- Plant spring bulbs if you like.
- Trim branches near the roof and cables before the snow.
Winter
- Protect and cover sensitive plants.
- Knock heavy snow off shrubs so they do not break.
- Keep salt or grit ready for paths.
